Thailand opens the door to locally listed Bitcoin and Ether ETFs ↗

Thai authorities signaled approval of Bitcoin and Ether ETFs listed on local exchanges, extending efforts to offer crypto through traditional financial products.
Editor’s take
Folding volatile assets into familiar products looks like convenience, yet it also raises the question of whether such wrappers genuinely shield savers or simply repackage risk for a trusting audience; for those who place more faith in brokerage interfaces than in any chapel, the world is being rewritten one listing at a time.

PRESSVatican NewsHoly See: Online hate and religious intolerance are forms of racism ↗
9 Oct, 19:07 JST
The Holy See has stated that online hate speech and religious intolerance constitute forms of racism. The source material does not specify the scope or applicability of the statement.
Editor’s take
In an era when faith is framed with the same rigor as public health, a moral authority rather than a state is sketching the contour of the realm. Folding hate and intolerance into a single phenomenon makes drawing lines in online space less tethered to cultural or political borders. Whether a religious body can enforce that line, or merely recommend it, remains a downstream consequence that cannot yet be read. The idea is like a metal detector at the entrance: it makes people pause, yet what lies beyond the threshold is a separate question.

PRESSChristianity TodayNew Refugee Cap Deals a Blow to Persecuted Religious Minorities ↗
9 Oct, 19:00 JST
Christianity Today reports on how a new refugee cap affects persecuted religious minorities. Ruth LePage, who directs refugee services at Arrive Ministries in Minnesota, recalls late-night airport welcomes as family reunification cases bring crowds of relatives holding balloons and welcome banners.
Editor’s take
Measuring people who need a safe harbor by a headcount turns welcome into paperwork. The balloons at the arrivals gate come from a human instinct far older than any bureaucrat's tally sheet — yet that instinct does not simply vanish in the face of numbers on paper. Each time a cap is left in place, the United States is asked how seriously it still plays its self-image as a refuge for persecuted religious minorities.

PRESSCointelegraphBitcoin speculators shift 55K BTC to exchanges alongside $1.1B liquidations ↗
9 Oct, 18:50 JST
According to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin speculators moved 55K BTC to exchanges as roughly $1.1B in liquidations occurred, hinting at a potential full capitulation in the market.
Editor’s take
When the sound of capitulation fills the room, the urge to press the liquidation button alongside the crowd is real, but a veteran angler hauls in his nets before the storm. Historically, moves of this size arrive at either the exact bottom or one stop before it, so until a confirmation candle lights up my portfolio stays in the freezer. Multiple media reports say South Korea shipped fuel to Russia through vessels already under sanctions. Details on volumes, companies involved, and official responses remain unverified.
Editor’s take
When trade slips through hard-to-spot routes, what looks like a single shipment is often a small visible piece of a much larger pattern. By now you have heard about OpenAI’s big revenue snafu. Whoops it’s $50 billion not $70, we were doing our accounting wrong! How silly of us. Aside from how ridiculous that all is, the real issue is not that they are only at $50 billion in arr. The issue is that they need sustained, gigantic influxes of cash to stay alive short term. They WILL collapse and go under without constant debt issuance and cash infusions. And now ask yourself, what private capital rep on the planet is going to be interested in sending more cash to OpenAI after hearing about the $50b vs $70b? Who is possibly dumb enough to throw more money at that company, when many others who aren’t playing games with their financial reporting also want access to more debt to fund their ai buildout? OpenAI is cooked. Done. They will continue to be provided access to just enough debt / cash to get them to their ipo, and then it’s lights out. Because that’s the only way the groups that have backed them thus far can have a chance of getting most or all of their capital back. They will go bankrupt after they have issued as many shares as they possibly can to suck every last dollar out of the market. And they will take the entire ai trade and buildout with them. They are too big, and they will fail. The dotcom comparison happens a lot. Maybe we should all be focusing on what caused it to pop. A bunch of companies that were running on debt ran out of money, and couldn’t get more debt. That will happen again. The only thing that can prevent it is extreme intervention by the government. Which they will no doubt try. Will it work? Who knows. Best to be prepared in the event it doesn’t. Keep your investments safe and strategic.

Read the sourceLive news: Risk assets under pressure as bond selloff and oil rally intensify ↗
8 Oct, 19:44 JST
A CoinDesk live update reports that intensifying bond selling and a rising oil market are dragging on risk assets, including stocks and crypto, with volatile price action across the board.
Editor’s take
When a storm hits a harbor, every boat copies the same rocking. No captain can stop the storm, but the ones who know how to keep their own hull from taking on water are the ones who sail out the other side. Reading today's linked moves across risk assets as one current, rather than as separate stories, is the more honest chart.

PRESSVatican NewsPope appoints Sr. Barron as Adjunct Secretary of Dicastery for Evangelization ↗
8 Oct, 19:09 JST
The Vatican has announced the appointment of Sr. Barron as an Adjunct Secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization, confirming a new role for her.
Editor’s take
In a Church where the center and the parishes live in different time zones, a title like Adjunct Secretary functions less as a label than as a gauge of distance from decision-making. Even an outwardly quiet promotion acts like a mirror, refracting where doctrinal weight is actually landing. The choice of who sits in this chair becomes, by itself, a personnel-level testimony to what the current leadership treats as load-bearing.

PRESSBBC WorldTanker struck by multiple projectiles in the Gulf off Qatar, maritime agency says ↗
8 Oct, 19:07 JST
A tanker in the Gulf off Qatar was struck by multiple projectiles, according to a maritime agency. The vessel has been identified by a maritime intelligence firm as the oil and chemical tanker Acers. Casualties have been reported aboard.
Editor’s take
The reported harm reflects a deliberate choice by one side of the conflict. When such acts accumulate, the very notion of a "safe corridor" will vanish from the world of cargo insurance — the way a room goes dark in an instant, market trust splinters with a single strike.

PRESSCointelegraphBTC price rally stalls as new money inflows to bitcoin approach $5B monthly ↗
8 Oct, 18:56 JST
Monthly new money inflows into bitcoin approach $5B while the BTC price rally stalls.
Editor’s take
This site reads the picture less as a short-term frenzy and more as a rising tide: a quiet flood of unnamed capital entering the space, rather than a handful of loud believers. That kind of backdrop is the kind of terrain in which long-term contours begin to shift.

PRESSCointelegraphESMA gives crypto firms 3 months to exit non-compliant stablecoins ↗
8 Oct, 18:42 JST
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has asked crypto firms to withdraw stablecoins that do not comply with EU regulations within three months.
Editor’s take
When a regulator grants a grace period before forcing an exit, the time is not a bureaucratic formality but an act of redrawing the boundary of trust. It resembles an owner whose garden fence has been torn down rebuilding the enclosure in three days, forcing firms to rescale both customer assets and internal rules within a narrow window. The decision to drop non-compliant coins will cause short-term friction while making the market's outline clearer over the long term.

PRESSAl JazeeraHow the Gaza war accelerated India's shift toward Israel under Modi ↗
8 Oct, 17:31 JST
As even Israel's traditional allies distance themselves from Netanyahu, Modi's India has deepened its embrace of the country. The war in Gaza has accelerated this realignment.
Editor’s take
【Escapism】When nations caught in their own storms huddle under the same roof, the arrangement feels pragmatic—until the storm passes and the roof comes off. Alliances cemented in the heat of war often fade faster than those built in calmer weather. The test will be what survives when Gaza is no longer a daily headline.

Read the sourceKushner and Witkoff Allegedly Prioritize Pipeline Deals Behind Peace Talks ↗
8 Oct, 17:25 JST
Anne Applebaum claims that while presenting themselves as peace negotiators, Kushner and Witkoff are pursuing gas pipeline deals with the Russian side, and accuses them of repeatedly accepting inducements offered by Moscow.
Editor’s take
A peace sign hung over a door can hide the handoff of an envelope just as easily. When named intermediaries end up cutting future leverage through pipes the public never sees, the negotiation is inscribed into infrastructure rather than agreements. Where those pipes eventually reach, and who profits at every joint, will decide whether Europe inherits stability or a longer leash.

A Vatican cardinal has stated that fraternity is the only framework capable of building a sustainable and peaceful future.

PRESSCointelegraphGreece plans 10% capital gains tax on cryptocurrencies ↗
8 Oct, 17:03 JST
Reports indicate the Greek government is planning a 10% capital gains tax on crypto asset sales. Further details have not yet been disclosed.
Editor’s take
This plan is best read as a state beginning to treat crypto assets as a formal taxable category, not as a judgment on the technology itself, but as a shift in the social cost of holding it. The rate appears modest, yet the actual burden could shift considerably depending on filing procedures and the scope of what is covered. As fewer places remain outside tax systems, the idea of crypto as a neutral place to park assets fades, and holdings are pushed toward alignment with tax regimes rather than away from them.
