I hope this is the right place to ask. My wife and I obtained a 3 year visa on the basis of her parent’s Japanese citizenship (she was as never added to the family registry. We bought a home but are not in a position at this time to stay more than 2-3 weeks. We got our resident cards on our last visit in July. Retired, so all our income is from the US. As a frequent visitors, but not residents in the usual sense, should I talk to someone at the city about our obligations under Japanese law? Do I need to register our address at city hall? I’ve not found anything applying to our situation. I don’t want to get in trouble.

My question is: I´m moving to Japan from Sweden for work (A specialized role), but I´m also in need of a new phone. Would it be recommended to buy a phone from Sweden (iPhone 18 Pro Max) and download all the apps, etc here, or just buy a new phone in Japan? I will be flying back and forth between Sweden and Japan from time to time and will use it for calling ppl normally and not through apps such as Messenger, Instagram, and so on. GME caught my attention lately, since the CEO (Ryan Cohen) has been buying millions worth of stock almost daily for the last two weeks. (I think he likes making money, so maybe he knows something is coming). He also seems to be looking at take-overs, or at least investing with the huge almost 10 Bilion dolar cash pile he has. But thats all speculation (Although GME has a big stake in Ebay now). The fundamental business now also makes profit. I don't think it's a lot, but the YoY change is spectacular at 77%. Also its just 100M short of the most profit it's ever recorded in a quarter, and that for a second quarter of the year, I think is not bad (as it's not a quarter wherein gaming retail does really well) The cash GME has on hand is almost the same as the total marketcap of GME, so basically it's now priced in, that GME won't turn that cash into more, but just stays flat. I think all this together makes for a great opportunity, and when they do something with that cash, the company would suddenly be priced a lot different, and we could see the stock price increase rapidly. The underlying business is ok, but I don't think thats the focus, I see GME now as an investment vehicle, or SPAC if you will. And the CEO who doesn't take a paycheck is willing to put his money in there too. It seems to me like an investment with not a lot of downside, and massive upside potential, correct me if I'm wrong.

I dreamed about Jesus last night. I woke up with tears in my eyes cuz I had such a blessed and happy feeling. it was really special. We were sitting on a stone wall, and he was wearing an iron crown and had long, fluffy, somewhat greasy hair. I couldn't see his face, but he put my face in his hair, placed my head on his shoulder, and held me without saying anything. I cried so hard, as if I was letting go of all my grief. I have never felt so safe in my life. Jesus spoke to me, but I can't remember his voice. He said that his mother used to be called a whore and that he was always bullied on the street by other children because of it. I think it is because I struggle with being different with autism. He also said that mother Mary had a dark skin tone. After that, he told me that in life, you get around 800 chances to learn from your sins. But you have to take them, otherwise, you drift far away. He was also referring to my pathological lying, things I sometimes do or have done in the past. He said that I have often said I'm sorry, but haven't actually stopped doing it. He told me I needed to seize this chance and do something about it. When I tried to look for him right after, he had vanished, and my dream faded into something else. But I felt whole Last week I was completely in a big meltdown where I felt lost. I prayed to God on my knees with my head on the ground cuz I was depressed for a while and my relationship was failing. Now I feel so happy after all of this . Did I really saw Jesus or is it Something that my head made up?

I tried it on Ternary Bonsai 2 27B (PTQ1_0, 5.53 GiB) on an RTX 5060 Laptop 8 GB under Windows, Prism llama.cpp build adfffbe41. It went the other way. | Run | Correct | Avg tokens | tok/s | Truncations | |---|---:|---:|---:|---:| | A baseline | 44/50 | 845.2 | 29.27 | 2 | | B −2 bias | 43/50 | 872.3 | 29.28 | 2 | Both runs used temp 0, seed 42, a 2048 reasoning budget, a 3072 token cap, and the same 50 questions. Run B biased nine token ids covering the lowercase, leading-space, and capitalized forms of each word. 47 answers matched; one truncated miss became correct, and two correct answers became misses. One deterministic pair at temp 0, so treat it as one data point, not proof either way. The results are in, no thinking / instruct mode for new models degrade performance more than on old models such as 3.6 vs 3.8, where 3.6 takes the lead on several coding benches in instruct mode. I would ask the labs to still nicely focus on instruct mode also still, there a probably gains to be had without the lengthy reasoning still, some of us still use models for everything and they do not need long reasoning traces. Agentic is fine and all but to start SACRIFICING performance for the "base" model which we are used to from early Llama days is not a good direction imo.

This video looks at some psychological experiments as a way to help understand why it sometimes looks like people are being "possessed". It is part of a larger series exploring Satan and demons. In the first video of this series, I started things off by demonstrating that "satan" is not a name, but a description of a function, or a title. The second part of the series examines the appearance of "ha satan" - the accuser - in the book of Job. Part 3 continues to explore the 3 (yes, only 3) times "Satan" appears as the title of a character in the Hebrew Bible. The next video is what I probably should have done immediately after "Part 3" - hence, the fact that I have titled it "Part 3 1/2". This video delves into two passages from the Hebrew Bible that tradition has interpreted to be about Satan, and why they have nothing at all to do with Satan. Part 4 explores the story of Jesus' temptation in the desert. And in Part 5, I explore a Buddhist story that is very similar to the story of Jesus' temptation in the desert, as well as some sayings attributed to Buddha that are similar to saying attributed to Jesus. Part 6 delves into a few places in the Bible that talk about demons, and asks if we could read "demons" as a metaphor for the ways that negative emotions play out in our lives. Part 7 follows up on that discussion and explores the idea of "practical exorcism". Part 8 looks at Satan's appearance in Revelation, and discusses the idea that the book of Revelation is highly misunderstood by people who haven't studied the socio-political context in which it was written. And part 9 follows up on that, asking how we might "unveil the beast today", and discusses the idea of "Theocapitalism", or, the "religion of the free market".

After evaluating my QLoRA, I found zero'd gradients in all but two layers. Turns out I had a NaN issue related to my custom v100 kernels that I didn't catch - so that run is cooked, I had to restart. I guess two layers training managed to emulate a loss curve I could at least derive a sensible explanation for until I actually got to evaluate. Thankfully, checked to make sure gradients were applying again, and restarted the run. Basically a DGX Spark minus the ConnectX-7 ports. I’ve seen expected initial pricing from like $1800 to $2900. Not sure what configurations are actually at those price points. It’s all Internet hearsay until we actually see these things ship, but it’s nice to know that it’s potentially around the corner next week, especially given DGX Spark’s insane price increases lately. Sadly, you can’t cluster them, but getting an entire computer + GB10 equivalent chip for a little over half the price of a used 4090 seems like an ok deal in this market.

I know it’s a 7 month process with so many vaccines and tests but I’m ready to do that, and he must go in cabin because he’s a shihtzu but he’s small enough (11lbs) to do so. And I’m not so worried since he’s pretty tolerant to things and changes. Also what’s it like getting housing outside big cities? I’m thinking a countryside near a city, and I’m thinking of renting a small house (in the country side so not as expensive) instead of an apartment. Does anyone know any services that help foreigners rent pet friendly houses? •if someone has a degree in English and a diploma in early childhood education, would they be able to get a different job than just a normal Eikaiwa? Hi all! I am a former SWE who has recently transitioned into inference engineering. I launched a side hustle a few months back and I've just taken it full time due to excessive demand. Its been such an opportunity because the people optimizing runtime are far fewer than the people that are trying to build apps or offer AI solutions. So I've been lurking around this community, and I've noticed a lot of people who seem to have massively suboptimal setups for their hardware, and I've grouped the biggest errors into several buckets. The purpose of this guide is to expose common inference bottlenecks and provide best practices for avoiding them within your hardware constraints. RUNTIME: I. Choosing the Right Runtime This is the biggest mistake I see. Choosing the correct runtime for your architecture and model is the most important decision to make. In general, here are some rules to help you determine what runtime to use. Firstly, Ollama is never optimal. Its just the simplest. If you want quick and easy and have extra RAM, it's a good place to start. It's very user friendly and requires less setup. But it just won't offer best inference speeds. If your model requires cpu offload, then llama.cpp will be your best choice. If not and you're solely in gpu, VLLM will likely provide the best results. It's really as simple as that for 90% of cases. SGLang may be worth it if your workload involves Langgraph, as it is highly optimized for the tooling. Otherwise, stick to the above. Mainline branches are best, with community forks offering only highly niche performance boosts (i.e., for specific models/configurations, but are generally under optimized and not well maintained). So I've been reading Leviticus chapter 11 with my father for quite some time now and just doing the Bible study and doing a lot of research on this chapter and it's really changed my mindset about all these meats we've been eating that are unclean and some are clean, and I know this topic is going to maybe cause fights because people research about this topic and in the New testament it says Jesus declared all foods clean and that's particularly saying okay you know what food is but what I'm talking about is what God declared which foods particularly meaning meat and insects which are clean and unclean to eat and after reading it we've taken out which unclean foods out of our diet stopped eating them completely and it is really made my body feel cleaner I haven't opened mind now. Hi All, TL;DR: I got excited building a PC and kept upgrading / swapping and building and ended up with a work station that is more than I can use. It was fun and frustrating, but I probably won't do it again. If you have advice or a suggestion on how you would use a 5090 and 5070ti in the same PC I would like to hear it! So, this all started when the 5090 was announced. I signed up to be in the lottery to buy it at msrp from NVIDIA. I had an Alienware R15 with an i7 and 4080 with a 1300 w psu. The 4080 was fine but I had really wanted a 4090 for better fps in gaming and I was starting to explore local imagine generation. I got selected, bought the 5090 and went to swap it into my PC when I realized that I was not able to use the power connector that was in my Alienware PC. I then decided I would sell the Alienware and build my first PC. At the time I was still building a gaming focused PC with a Ryzen 9 9950x3d the 5090 and 32 gb of ram (I tried to save money on the ram thinking I could upgrade later boy did I get that wrong). Then I had less time for gaming as I started to learn about Ollama, and then Llama.cpp. I was constantly downloading and trying new models. At one point I had nearly 1 TB of models that would fit on my 5090 (gemma 4 12b, 26b-a4b, 31b; gpt oss 20b; nemotron 3 nano 30b a3b; so many Qwen models etc). Then it seemed like the better models kept getting larger, so I looked into getting a second GPU (ram prices were/are nuts and vram seemed like the better "investment"). I realized that I would not be able to run another gpu at its full PCIe lanes with my gaming PC as the Ryzen 9 couldn't support it. So, I started looking for used Threadripper hardware. I got tired of LLM comparisons that report tokens/sec and call it a result, so I built a harness that measures whether generated code actually compiles. It runs a battery of prompts through Ollama, extracts every fenced code block, and compiles it with \`tsc --strict\`. A model that rambles and returns prose gets marked \`PROSE\` rather than counted as a syntax error — that distinction turned out to be the whole ballgame. Reference machine, measured idle: RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 31.7 GiB RAM, driver 617.14, Ollama 0.35.0. All Q4\_K\_M.
