AI Shopping Agents Could Threaten the Ad Businesses of Amazon and Walmart ↗

A Reuters-linked headline says AI shopping agents could threaten Amazon and Walmart’s advertising businesses, but the supplied material does not explain how.

A headline claim is supplied, not the mechanism by which AI shopping agents affect ads. Linking technology to business consequences is stronger than praising abstract efficiency. If agents alter product discovery, ad revenue could suffer: storefront signs become guides making customer choices.

Hey everyone! I’m landing in Tokyo on the 16th of November and need somewhere to stay until around the 20th, before potentially heading up to Hokkaido to look for seasonal winter work. I’ve been looking at share houses, private rooms and single dorms, but most of the accommodation I’ve found seems to require a minimum one-month contract. As it’ll be my first time travelling to a completely unfamiliar country, I’m a little unsure what the best option would be. I’m not particularly keen on capsule hotels, either. For those first few days, I’d ideally like somewhere with a bit more privacy and space to settle in, get organised and adjust to everything. **My second question is whether I should spend some more time in Tokyo before heading north.** I’m 19 and currently working as a bartender in Australia. I speak native Spanish and English and have been teaching myself Japanese, although I’m still very much a beginner. I could potentially stay in Tokyo for the first two weeks to a month, especially if I can find relatively affordable accommodation. However, I’m unsure how good the job opportunities would be for someone with my language abilities and experience. One advantage of staying in Tokyo would be that it’s more international, which might make the initial adjustment easier as someone with very basic Japanese. It would also give me more time to explore opportunities in other cities. On the other hand, I’m leaning towards heading to Hokkaido sooner rather than later, as I imagine the winter season will be a particularly busy period for seasonal hospitality jobs. My current thinking is to head north, look for winter work and, if things don’t work out, return to Tokyo and reassess my options. **I’d love to hear from anyone who’s done a Working Holiday in Japan:** What would you recommend for those f

Hello everyone, I am an engineering student from India. I initially started learning Japanese due to pressure from my college, but over time, I developed a genuine interest in working and relocating to Japan. I recently had the opportunity to visit Japan for a week, during which I met the CEO of a company. While we were conversing with him, some of my friends asked about internship opportunities. In response, he inquired about the salary or stipend we would expect. We were caught off guard and unprepared for this question, so we simply replied that we were primarily seeking experience. However, upon reflection, we realized we should have answered with greater precision. Therefore, I sincerely wish to understand the cost of living in Japan for a recent graduate or fresher.

I started asking about some of the companies he owned and somehow we ended up talking about stocks and earnings reports for almost an hour lol. I'd never really looked into stocks before cuz crypto always had my attention but that conversation got me thinking I should give the stock market a try too. I already knew the Pump app from crypto so I started exploring its tokenized stock trading section. Been enjoying learning how the stock market works and following companies I actually recognize. I'm definitely sticking with crypto but having another market to explore iss fun. I know tokenized stocks aren't the same as owning regular shares through a broker. For people who trade both, do you have any advice for my new journey and how do you split your attention between crypto and stocks?

Hi, I’ve recently moved to Japan (Tokyo) with my family and was wondering if there are minor leagues which I can take part in. To add, I am also looking for training sessions that allow expats to join (much like a team training) just so I can improve or maintain/ condition my body and skills.

1 Nov, 06:41 JST
Apple's new CEO defended the company's current position in AI, saying it does not want to ship AI merely for AI's sake.
Editor’s take
Positioning AI as a means rather than an end links the technology to users' practical needs. It treats AI like a kitchen knife: a tool defined by the cooking it enables. Under that standard, whether AI belongs in a product can be judged by whether there is a problem it solves.

Read the sourceJiahao Shao says Claude was not distilled, disputes Anthropic label ↗
1 Nov, 06:40 JST
Shao says rollouts came from an open-source model; Claude only helped submit jobs and run analysis. Shao says Anthropic labeled this as competitor training.
Editor’s take
Nothing in the post establishes that using a tool was the same as distilling model outputs. Like borrowing a ladder rather than reproducing it, tool use and output distillation are separate operations. Without technical verification of that distinction, judgments about training methods and responsibility can harden around an unverified premise.

1 Nov, 06:40 JST
A linked article introduces a handmade robot intended to push back against AI delivery bots.
Editor’s take
A handmade robot intended to contest an AI delivery bot pulls the technology contest into everyday life. If such machines operate where delivery bots run, the concrete consequence is robots and pedestrians competing for the same curbside space, like neighbors contesting the same doorway.

PRESSReddit“It’s That Time”: Short video shared in a Christianity community ↗
1 Nov, 06:39 JST
A Christianity community post shared a short video titled “It’s That Time” with warning emojis. The video’s subject and announcement details are not established.
Editor’s take
The dramatic title and warning emojis are like a smoke alarm: attention-grabbing, but without the video’s content they do not establish that anything happened. What can be confirmed is only that a video was shared, not the urgency or importance of the announcement.

PRESSRedditPlanned Sibling Attendance at Church Leaves Poster Uneasy ↗
1 Nov, 06:38 JST
A churchgoer says an older sibling relayed that Muslim parents plan to bring a sibling on Sundays. They fear losing respite amid job and insurance worries.
Editor’s take
Churchgoing seems to give the poster a pause from family strain, like a door they can close, but a sibling's attendance may remove its privacy. Without new support, isolation could deepen amid work and health-insurance worries. Valuing faith and material security is kinder than forcing a choice.

I have been trying my best to attend church as much as I can. Since I am living with my family who are Muslim. But apparently my older brother told me. My mom and dad are planning to have my little brother follow me where I've been going every Sunday. So now the one thing I look forward to is now gone . I honestly don't know what to do. I'm already stress at not able to have a work . Im stress out within for my health insurance to kick back in . I feel like im an outcast in my family eye . And now the one thing i look to is now gone .

1 Nov, 06:37 JST
“numbat” is presented as either noise or a mutated small model. A check suggests it is not pure noise, while familiar words may come from the original model.
Editor’s take
Not being random noise and being a meaningful AI are different claims. If the familiar words came from the base model, their presence does not establish coherent generation. A polished package is not enough to judge the model's actual capability.

Found this crap, what do yall think about it: [https://huggingface.co/burner22/numbat](https://huggingface.co/burner22/numbat) Real or fake and what are the implications, ran a check and doesn't seem to be random noise though there are some suspicions. It seems to be some base small model mutated in a way with a bunch of noise, tho words like cat and dog, Monday and Tuesday and all fit but this could be because of the original model.

1 Nov, 06:30 JST
VibeToplist has nearly 400 AI-assisted and vibe-coded game submissions and thousands of weekly visitors. Leaderboard resets give developers repeated exposure.
Editor’s take
Ranked AI-assisted games give experimental work a route to discovery. As submissions and visits accumulate, regular leaderboard resets could become a dependable source of exposure. Without eligibility or judging criteria, the platform is like a night-market stall: it shows availability, not quality.

While most discussions around AI focus on chatbots, image generation, and automation, something interesting is happening in game development. A few months ago, I launched VibeToplist, a discovery platform for AI-assisted and vibe-coded games. What started as a small experiment is now approaching 400 game submissions, with thousands of visitors exploring these projects every week. What's fascinating is the variety. Some games are clearly early experiments, while others are surprisingly ambitious projects built by individuals or small teams. In just a couple of hours, our monthly leaderboard resets, giving developers another opportunity to get their games discovered. I genuinely believe we're only scratching the surface of what AI could mean for indie game development. The tools are improving rapidly, but creativity and knowing what makes a game enjoyable still matter enormously. Do you think AI will eventually allow solo developers to compete with established game studios, or will it simply flood the market with more games? PRESSRedditPoland's Constitutional Tribunal Row Deepens as Tusk and Nawrocki Refuse Compromise ↗
1 Nov, 06:11 JST
The dispute between Donald Tusk and Karol Nawrocki over Poland's Constitutional Tribunal has deepened, with neither side willing to compromise.
Editor’s take
Refusing compromise does not by itself settle an institutional dispute; it can prolong the deadlock and blur who is responsible for resolving it. Political relationships resemble households: when emotional conflict is left unattended, coordination eventually breaks down.

Health authorities in northeastern Nigeria have isolated two suspected Ebola cases while officials conduct contact tracing and laboratory testing.
Editor’s take
Isolation, contact tracing, and laboratory testing track infection chains like checking a rope's knots. If testing rules out infection, the data can strengthen monitoring. If transmission is confirmed, local health services immediately face greater pressure.

PRESSMarketWatchAbusive ex-husband promised $20,000 for children’s education. Is he legally obligated? ↗
1 Nov, 05:15 JST
A personal-finance question asks whether a former husband must pay $20,000 he promised for his children’s education after refusing to pay.
Editor’s take
The title opens with a moral condemnation, but that does not establish a legal duty. An education pledge is like a family IOU: its legal force depends on jurisdiction, documentation, and applicable law. Without those facts, whether payment is obligatory cannot be stated categorically.

PRESSMarketWatchWhy Spend It All? Showy Jewelry and Fancy Cars Hold No Appeal ↗
1 Nov, 04:30 JST
The article frames a 99% chance of outliving life savings, asks why the money should not be spent, and dismisses the appeal of flashy jewelry and fancy cars.
